£40,000 police motorhome stolen, report finds

Posted on August 18th 2008

Details released under the Freedom of Information Act to the Times has revealed that no motorhome is beyond theft.

The Times has published a report detailing the extent of items stolen from the police force since 2005, and has found that, among another £1 million of goods, one police motorhome was stolen.

Police in Wiltshire were said to be puzzled when a £40,000 motorhome disappeared from under their noses, reminding motorhome owners across the country of the dangers of not buying motorhome insurance.

While some of the more serious thefts, such as this one, have caused embarrassment, many others have simply caused bemusement.

There has been £2.58 worth of meat stolen from Greater Manchester's police force, a 'Codes of Practice' book and, in Scotland Yard's most stunning case, a roof.
