Caravan blown into river by the storms
Posted on November 18th 2009
This weekend saw a melee of flood and weather damage as the UK got a battering from Mother Nature. Some areas saw worse conditions than others, Wales got a particularly bad spell of thunderous winds. One area of Wales had winds so strong that a caravan occupied by three men was launched over a wall and into a river. Two of the occupants where able to escape after the accident but one man was trapped inside leaving him stranded, waiting on emergency services to come to his aid.
Fire crews were quick to react to the call out and quickly freed the man from the wrecked caravan. All three men where taken to a local hospital for a check-up but they were released soon after with no injuries sustained.
A spokeswoman for the fire crew said: "The three men were staying in the caravan in a lay-by on the pass. It was blown over the wall by the wind and into the river below. The river wasn't deep. No specialist equipment was needed to get the man out."
