Caravan destroyed in arson attack
Posted on November 09th 2009
A family in Bristol where woken by an arson attack on Tuesday night after someone had set fire to their Vauxhall van spreading to their caravan just outside the house. The Fry family where at home when the incident happened at 10.55pm, when Tallon Fry heard a loud bang, he proceeded to peer out his window to see the cause and noticed that the van was ablaze. The family had planned to go away in the caravan the day after so had left valuables inside ready for the trip. They tried to rescue as much of their possessions as they could from the burning tourer, burning their hands in the process.
The fire crew where quick to react to the 999 call and had the fire out in minutes, one of the firemen told the family that had the attack been later on in the night they may not have been so lucky to have spotted the blaze and the outcome could have been much worse. Unfortunately the caravan and van was completely destroyed as well as part of their property.
Natasha Fry had spotted her dog and cat still in the house where she risked her own life in order to prevent them from being engulfed by the fire. She said; "I didn't think; I just wanted to save my dog. I've had him for eight years since he was a puppy and he's part of our family. We've had the cat Chloe for 14 years too."
