Caravan insurance needed despite free security checks
Posted on August 19th 2009
Despite the Lincolnshire Fire & Rescues' recently launched initiative, where caravan owners in the East Coast received free fire caravan checks with holidaymakers residing near popular tourist destinations like Skegness attarcting particular attention, a caravan in the North Shore Caravan site in Roman Bank was set alight by fire.
The caravan, which is belived to have caught on fire by accident, was partially destroyed by the domestic flames; the rear of the caravan was also damaged by smoke.
The owners of the caravan in Skegness will be thankful for their caravan insurance so that their van can be repaired and re-used in the future but they will be double checking their fire safety precautions!
A fire crew was called to the scene early afternoon on Tuesday, 11 August where they quelled the blaze which had also spread to a nearby fence.
Luckily no-one was harmed however the fire service can only reiterate that the dangers of fire within a caravan are just as dangerous in a holiday home as in a permanent residential property. Caravan owners should be particularly careful and vigiliant in the checking and installing of fire and smoke detectors in their caravans which can be a life saving measure.
Insure My Caravan combines standard cover with low premiums to give caravan owners the most competitive static caravan insurance and touring caravan insurance on the market.
