Caravan park tackles antisocial behaviour
Posted on September 25th 2009
A caravan park that has been the victim of anti social behaviour over the last couple of months is being worked on by council officials who are looking at taking steps to end the bedlam. Lochside Caravan Park in Carlingwark, Castle Douglas, has had to enforce late night police patrols to crack down on the individuals who have been upsetting the other caravanners who just want a tranquil, picturesque holiday at the once quite caravan park.
The trouble began over the summer holidays when travellers set up camp. This includes fighting, loud music and generally breaking all of the rules set up by the caravan park. One caravan owner who visits the caravan site on a regular basis was awake until the early hours of the morning when the travellers decided to have a party. The police attended to the noise; however once they had left it began all over again.
The council, who own the caravan park set up rules in 2003 which included a rule that no one must be running a business from the site, however comments have been made to the parks warden that the travellers are working from their caravans. There is currently not enough proof or evidence to enable the council or police to remove the travellers from the site, but this is currently being worked on.
