Caravan boss dies aged 55

An entrepreneur who spent 40 years helping to build up a South Derbyshire caravan dealership into one of the most successful in the UK has died aged 55.
Tony Weavers passed away on Wednesday 10th June at Derby City General Hospital after battling against cancer.
Weavers became managing director of Leisure Kingdom following a successful buy-out of the company in 2006. Having joined the company as a valeter aged 16, he worked his was up through the ranks over a period of 40 years. “I’ve never had to undergo a formal job interview” said Weavers in a recent interview.
Mr Weavers will be remembered for helping to save the British caravan industry at a time of crisis. His introduction of cheap Italian motor homes to the UK forced British manufacturers to lower their prices and made caravanning more affordable in this country.
He leaves wife Judy and two sons, Richard and Matthew.
