Caravan factory to shut down
Posted on October 27th 2008
A caravan factory in Hull is to be shut down following its takeover by Leeds-based company Endless, it has been reported.
Endless is to buy Cosalt Holiday Homes but the Hull factory has been making a loss of £750,000 per month, a BBC report stated.
A GMB spokesperson was quoted by the BBC as saying that 289 jobs will be lost as a result of the factory closure.
"GMB has today put a claim for an enhanced redundancy package to the new owners and we are waiting for their reply," he said.
"The first priority of the new owners should be to look after the workers and provide them with enough cash to enable them to keep their families while they look for new work."
The news will also no doubt be disappointing to fans of the Cosalt caravans, who may now be forced to buy a different brand.
Whichever caravan an owner chooses though, one thing will remain constant, and that is the need for caravan insurance.
