Caravan industry in cry for help to business secretary
Posted on February 27th 2009
Business leaders and MPs will meet with the business secretary Lord Mandelson in March to discuss what can be done for the ailing caravan industry in the East Yorkshire area.
The moves come after Atlas Holiday Homes followed Avondale into administration and Cosalt disposing of its loss making caravan manufacturing arm.
The area has seen some 1,500 job losses in the caravan industry in the past twelve months.
The delegation is seeking backing from the Government, much the same as the bailout given to the car industry, as it is important to the regions economy.
