Caravan owners need new storage

Posted on February 08th 2008

Three quarters of the 37 caravans currently stored at Park View, Runshaw Lane, Euxton have to be removed, or the owner faces prosecution.

Owner of the park for over 20 years, Anne-Marie Mawdesley is now contacting the caravan owners to avoid the council's enforcement measures.

Mrs Mawdesley told the Chorley Gazette: "They will have to take the caravans home or even sell them.

"It is not secure to park caravans in residential areas as they are an easy target for thieves. Also a lot of people are restricted, especially in new houses, and can't park them in their driveway."

Donna Hall, Chorley Council's chief executive, told the newspaper: "The council has been in lengthy discussions with the Mawdesleys for some years and while we understand their frustrations, we have explained why caravans cannot be kept on this site. The location of the site is within a green belt area, which cannot be developed on."
