Caravan park restoration project up for award
Posted on May 02nd 2008
The efforts of a family to transform an old railway station into a caravan park have been recognized by Dalesman magazine.
Old Station Yard in Masham has been shortlisted in the restoration category for the 2008 Yorkshire Rural Awards.
The awards aim to draw attention to individuals and businesses working to boost the profile of the Yorkshire countryside.
Flo Grainger, a former Masham Steam Rally organiser, has been working with friends and family to transform the Old Station into a heritage caravan park and restaurant.
As well as developing a sustainable business, Ms Grainger also hopes to bring jobs to the area and put the Dales on the map as a tourism hotspot.
