Caravans ruined in fire at compound

Posted on September 30th 2009

Caravan owners who stored their caravans at a park and storage compound in Hampshire will be left to make claims on their caravan insurance policies after a fire ripped through the site.

The caravan park, home to hundreds of static and touring caravans is located in Colden Common Hampshire; a large fire roared through the site on Sunday 27 September, setting ablaze to 18 caravans, leaving them unrecognisable and a further 20 with smoke damage. Fire crews attended the scene following a call from a member of the public who had noticed the flames. They spent two hours tackling the blaze which they were able to prevent from spreading any further, however crews were forced to spend the night on sight keeping an eye on any hot spots that could have relit.

An investigation is now being led into the fire by the Hampshire Arson Task Force to discover if the fire was down to arson.
