Caravans 'flooded up to windows'
Posted on September 11th 2008
Caravan owners are adding up the cost of the damage inflicted on their caravans in Northumberland this week after flooding damaged or destroyed a quarter of the pitches available.
Flooding in the region occurred after the river Coquet burst its banks, causing tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage.
The flood waters, which in some areas reached as high as 15ft from the river level, flooded caravans up to their windows.
Such floodwaters would no doubt destroy a caravan, costing the owner thousands of pounds to replace the vehicle alone, even before counting the cost of the items inside.
Caravan insurance, however, can offer financial assistance to those who need to replace or repair their caravan in the event of a disaster, or even theft.
