David Bellamy award goes to caravan park

Posted on October 13th 2008

A caravan park in the north-east has won a prestigious biodiversity award from celebrated botanist David Bellamy.

The Swaleview Caravan Park in Richmond has scooped a David Bellamy Conservation award as a result of its owner's dedication to creating a natural environment for wildlife to thrive.

Mr Andrew Carter, the park's owner, told the Darlington and Stockton Times: "It's a great privilege to live and work in this beautiful part of Yorkshire, and it's wonderful to be able to help preserve its very special character with the support of someone like David Bellamy."

The award serves as a reminder to many of the various benefits to a caravan holiday in the UK.

Far from being a boring option, as the stereotype may portray, caravanning is increasingly being appreciated for its green values.
