Environmental benefit of caravanning highlighted
Posted on September 05th 2008
The world of caravanning and motorhoming has been long-associated with a green alternative to flying holidays due to the low greenhouse emissions associated with driving compared to flying.
A new motorhome, named Avanti, has been unveiled in the US though, with its manufacturers Damon Motor Coach suggesting the vehicle will be far more fuel efficient than current vehicles on the road.
Describing the motorhome Matt Thompson, vice president of Avanti sales, said the vehicle's drivability was "awesome".
"The Avanti's [body] is nearly 12 inches closer to the ground than any other Class A motor home and is six inches narrower.
"The low centre of gravity, combined with the excellent ride and handling of the Workhorse chassis, gives it an automotive feel. I think people will find it fun to drive," he added.
Such a vehicle is a good reminder of the green nature of caravan holidays, and may tempt many green-natured holiday makers into buying a caravan.
