Growth of York caravan parks blocked by council
Posted on February 09th 2009
Two caravan parks close to York have both had applications for expansions turned down by the city council due to fears about damage to the green belt.
The caravan parks at Stockton Lane, looking to expand by 20 pitches, and Dunnington, 24 pitches, had local resident support and would’ve brought in more tourists and revenue to local shops.
However York city council rejected both plans on the grounds that they would have an adverse effect on the green belt due to the contrast of the white caravans in contrast to the countryside.
Also the proposed expansions would breach a 20 pitch policy that the council say caravan sites should be limited to.
