Highland caravan park 'could face legal action' over building work

Highland Council is mulling over whether to take legal action against a local caravan park after its orders for construction work to be halted were ignored, according to the Inverness Courier.
Work at the park near Lovat Bridge is ongoing despite the council's insistence that it should be stopped due to growing concerns that the site is being irreversibly transformed from one ostensibly concerned with the accommodation of touring caravans and tents to one focussed on semi-permanent park homes.
Residents have additionally expressed their anxiety over the aggressive tree felling taking place to make room for the homes.
Officials are also wary of the fact that modifications have been made to the drainage system at a site which is already at risk of flooding.
"We checked the Scottish Environment Protection Agency flood maps and noted the site is at potential risk of flooding," David Polson, the council's planning manager for Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey, told the newspaper.
"The prospect of introducing new permanent units on a caravan site is not particularly sensible. With all that in mind, we have issued enforcement notices and stop notices."
