Inspector refuses plans to replace static caravan pitches
Posted on October 02nd 2009
Plans to replace 18 Touring caravan pitches with 14 static homes has been rejected by a site inspector at a caravan park within the Yorkshire Dales national park.
The inspector refused the plans after 200 touring pitches have already been lost in the national park to static and park homes, impacting the number of tourists coming to the area. Additional reasoning behind the rejection also include how the inspector felt that the caravan parks natural environment would be effected with the larger structures taking their place in the beautiful environment.
Owners of the caravan park requested an appeal to the rejection as they feel that the touring caravans are spoiling the landscape more than the static caravans which would be green; tent and touring pitches provide a choice of cheap accommodation to families on a lower income who want to enjoy the Yorkshire Dales national park, leaving the inspector with a definite no.
