Motorhome fire destroys vehicle, gas canister intact
Posted on August 22nd 2008
A gas canister exploded in a motorhome this week, causing fire crews to shut a major Dorset road off while they tackled the blaze.
A family were travelling in the mobile home when a propane gas canister blew up, causing the entire vehicle to become engulfed in flames, although miraculously nobody was hurt.
The flames from the seven kilogram canister utterly destroyed the vehicle, and took fire services an hour to put out.
Fellow caravan drivers should take the time to assess their caravan insurance regularly, to ensure they are aware of what is and isn't covered, and to double check that they will be protected in events such as these.
If a caravan is destroyed the financial cost could run into several thousands of pounds, and with many vehicles now equipped with technological modcons, caravan insurance is simply essential.
