Northern Motorcaravan Show changes venue
Posted on April 07th 2008
The upgrade, drainage impovements and flood prevention measures which
York racecourse has begun to undergo has meant that the Northern
Motorcaravan Show has moved venue - to midway between York and
Scarborough - to the showground in Pickering.
The show will take place between September 19th and September 22nd 2008
and is expected to attract over 4,000 caravan bookings.
Last year's festival, to the west of York, attracted over 13,000
visitors to the show, and has continued to grow in numbers since it
began in 1995.
Exhibition manager for Warners' Group Publications, Maxine Shepherd,
told the York Press newspaper: "We have decided to move because a lot of
work will be taking place at the racecourse, which would make it
impossible to do the things we want to do.
"That led to us seeking an alternative, which we have been doing for the
last six months, and we are picking everything up and moving to
Pickering. The show will be as big as it has always been and there is
the added benefit of being able to allow campers to stay for an extra
day. We're very pleased to have found a venue so close to York, and as
it is a proper showground it will give us more on-site facilities for
our biggest event of the year. We will be looking to arrange buses to
take visitors around local attractions, including York."
