Posted on September 23rd 2009
A popular caravan site in Bury has had plans for an extension approved after many months of debate.
Bury Council planning committee met last Tuesday to discuss and give the final vote on the sites application for extension, this was collectively approved by the council.
The site is already host to 85 caravan pitches as well as space for tents, with out buildings for use as toilets and cleaning facilities. The extension will see an increase in capacity by around 25% introducing another 20 caravan pitches and more space for tents. The plans also include a new platform and shelter at the East Lancashire Railway, with an access ramp for pedestrian and disabled users.
The site has proved to be very popular over the years attracting thousands of families to the area, since its opening in 2006. Members of the council have said that they where originally opposed to the application but after seeing the benefits and advantages it offers to the local community it was unanimously given the go ahead.
