Plans for new carvan site have been withdrawn
Posted on November 23rd 2009
Northumberland Estates and Northumbria Activity and Leisure Ltd have withdrawn their plans to have a new caravan and camping site near RAF Boulmer. One of the main reasons for the withdrawal of the plans is the environmental effect the site would have on the area's sewerage system.
Northumbrian Water said: "Having looked at the plan the proposed development would have an impact on the operation of our Boulmer sewage treatment works. There is insufficient capacity at the treatment works to deal with the waste water from the development."
Although plans at this point have been withdrawn both companies will meet again in order to discuss the problem in an attempt to find a solution. The site would be a welcomed commodity to the area as there is currently no caravan or camping site, and has already received backing from the local tourism agency and local businesses.
