Surrey caravanners urge to keep keen eye
Posted on August 03rd 2009
Surrey has always been a prime spot for caravanners with its close location to the capital and easy access to more touristy spots.
However the latest news to be released by the Crime Reduction Team in Surrey has warned caravan owners to be far more vigilant in their security measures and to keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour.
This follows the robbery of three caravans for a campsite in Ockham Road North last week on Thursday, 23 July. The robbery which must have been planned and targeted due to the multiple burglaries caused damage of over £30,000 which caravan owners will be claiming for against their static caravan insurance.
Robbers armed with crowbars, large wire cutters and other tools force the locks as well as wheel clamps before getting away with the three vans in the raid.
Police urge caravanners to store caravans in police recommended storage facilities if at all possible because the added security measures of CCTV, guard patrolling and advanced locking systems can all help prevent and provide evidence to recover stolen caravans.
Insure My Caravan provides static caravan insurance, touring caravan insurance and leisure home insurance for vehicle owners against severe perils flood, fire and theft.
