Welsh caravan site hit by blaze

Posted on August 05th 2008

A caravan park in Prestatyn, north Wales has suffered from a major blaze this week, which drew a large number of firefighters and eight fire engines to tackle the flames.

The fire began at 7pm on Monday night and destroyed eight static caravans, with many others being damaged by smoke.

Caravaners at the site were quickly evacuated as a result of the dangers of smoke inhalation, although thankfully nobody was injured by the fire.

Concerns did reach a high yesterday however, as the access road was shut off by the authorities due to fears there were acetylene cylinders at the site. These fears were allayed however when they were found not to have been there.

Such a blaze is an acute reminder of the importance of confirming the quality of caravan insurance, as well as whether or not it's up to date.

Whether a caravan is about to hit the road or if it's a motor home left on a driveway, insurance needs to be comprehensive in order to save owners from costly disasters.
